This is a man’s world! Forget about Versailles, forget about dance on Ice. Hockey is one of those sport fueled with testosterone. Don’t be surprised to see fighting players, when nerves brake down - they use fists, judge can’t do much, fans are shouting. In its nature hockey is similar to rugby, strength of collision between players could be described as head-on collision of two or more trucks, list of foul tackles is relatively short, our favorites are:
• Elbow hitting is forbidden
• Stabbing and attacking with stick is forbidden
• Attacking with knee is forbidden
This sport had also glorious moments in Poland, specially before second world war, reaching its apogee in 1976 when we had won with mighty Russians. But today we get rough ride whenever we play with other representations. And it’s not about infrastructure – we have ice fields, we have experienced coaches, problem as usual is money.
Sport is dynamic, spectacular and original. Maybe we should try to go out with friends on a hockey match instead of watching another mega production from Hollywood in cinema. Adrenaline is there, and isn’t it what we are looking for in weekend runs?
